Tattooing reveals itself as more than just a marking on skin, it’s an entire language. From an indigenous perspective, tattooing requires listening, patience and mutual understanding. A language that ricohets between the marker and the receiver, tattoos can stand as a portal for beginnings, endings and clean slates. In this workshop we explore a pre-colonial take on the language of tattooing and how it can relate to fluidity, shapeshifting and the transformation of a person.
