Kia ara te ua. Keep your head up. Be proud! Takatāpui and MVPFAFF poets celebrate community, language and agency through the power of spoken word.

After the success of the first Auckland Pride Poetry Slam in 2023, we are back again in partnership with Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki to bring you your poetry needs.

This year we’re celebrating the immense talent of Tangata Whenua and Tangata o le Moana wordsmiths!

This event is free to all and promises to be an afternoon of lyrical magic!

We are proud to be hosting this as part of the 2024 Auckland Pride Festival. See the full programme at aucklandpride.org.nz

"I had never been to a poetry slam before, nor watched Celebrity Treasure Island. What was I in for with the Auckland Pride Slam? By the end; I had laughed, I had cried, I had found myself welcomed into a little queer cult. Sounds like a successful introduction to me. "
