Rainbow Reading Party

The Open Book welcomes you to get cosy at our beautiful bookstore after hours! Our Reading Parties are always a huge hit, so we thought for Pride Month this year we would open the space up especially for LGBTQIA+ folks and allies to share space and queer titles with each other.

Perfect for booklovers, introverts and anyone who might be a wee bit partied out by the end of the beautiful euphoric frenzy that is Pride Month.

Usually $5 per ticket, this Reading Party will be free for anyone to come to! If you like it, we will be having more through the year!

We’ll provide endless tea, biscuits, comfy seating, and a few picnic blankets so you can get into the reading groove in the store or out in our lush garden (weather dependent, bring your own picnic blanket/cushions/blankets for the most control over your own comfort).

You’ll also have exclusive access to browse and buy from our shelves, as well as first dibs on our newest arrivals. And if that wasn’t enough, at this particular event, we will be launching something very special that has been in the works since Pride Month last year, which you will be the first to hear about!

*Location and parking information:* Our second-hand bookstore is centrally located at 201 Ponsonby Road, opposite Prego and only five minutes walk from Ponsonby Central. It’s easy to reach us using all forms of transport. **Unfortunately The Open Book is not wheelchair accessible.** Free parking is available on most side streets surrounding Ponsonby Rd, plus ample busses that drop you off basically on our doorstep! Closest stops are: Stop 7219 – 215 Ponsonby Road – on the same side of the road, a minute’s walk from the store Stop 7218 – 228 Ponsonby Road – directly opposite the store on the other side of the road
