Volunteers Needed for Waimahara | Closing Event!
Kia ora!
On Saturday, 1st March 2025, the Auckland Pride Festival will close with Waimahara at Myers Park. This reimagined gathering shifts the traditional Pride March and Party into an event that honours the strength of our communities and strengthens our shared vision of queer liberation and social justice.
In order to make this massive event happen, we need YOUR help! We are seeking volunteers to support key areas of Waimahara, ensuring everything runs smoothly and everyone has a safe, enjoyable experience.
Volunteer Roles:
Aotea Square: Help participants by ensuring they’re informed of departure times, accessible needs, and next steps. Assist with safe movement between areas, conduct safety checks, and monitor for any medical or accessibility issues.
March Marshalls: Guide participants at key intersections, including the Aotea Grass Terraces, Greys Avenue Car Park entrance, and Waimahara. Direct participants to the correct locations, keep everyone informed of updates, and ensure safety throughout the march.
Myers Park: Walk around to maintain a safe environment, monitor quiet zones for those needing a break, check bathrooms for cleanliness and functionality, and liaise with certain vendors to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Whether you're helping people stay informed, ensuring safety, or supporting accessibility, your involvement will be crucial in bringing Waimahara to life!
If you're interested in being part of the team, fill out the form here, and we’ll be in touch soon.
Registration closes on Friday, 31st January 2025.
Let’s work together to make this year’s closing event unforgettable!
