Nau mai, haere mai! We warmly welcome you to join us early on February 1st in Aotea Square, for Te Takaranga Āniwaniwa, the opening ceremony of the 2020 Auckland Pride Festival!

Te Takaranga Āniwaniwa, previously known as the Dawn Ceremony, will take place in Aotea Square on the morning of Saturday the 1st of February.

Join us as we welcome the dawn and celebrate the start of the 2020 Auckland Pride Festival by remembering the ‘fallen rainbows’ of our communities, all those who fought for our liberation, paying homage to their memory as pioneers of Pride in Aotearoa, and Ahurea Takatāpui.

We are privileged to have a representation of Mana Whenua acting as convenors of this kaupapa, guiding us through the ceremony with karanga, karakia and kaikōrero. Following the close of formal proceedings we invite you to stay for a bit of kai and kōrero.

We look forward to seeing you bright and early for the official opening of 2020 Auckland Pride Festival.
