Siapo Workshop: Māngere Memorial Hall

Siapo (Tapa cloth) is a fabric shared across the pacific that connects communities and cultures. The Siapo workshops are held to create a space for Takatāpui, MVPFAFF and Queer Pasifika communities to gather, learn our traditions and talanoa. It's a safe and uninterrupted space for us to meet together, strengthen our connections and create the future we see for our community. The workshop takes you through the process of turning bark into fabric using soaking, scraping and beating techniques. At the end of the workshop, every participant will have their own piece of Siapo. These workshops are for those who identify as Takatāpui, MVPFAFF or part of the Queer Pasifika Community.
