Trans Day of Visibility Whakamanutia Ki Te Ao

To mark International Trans Day of Visibility we are sharing with you a Pao. Here in Aotearoa,

Pao are short poems often performed to a beat in Te Reo Māori. Pao have been used throughout the centuries to share pūrākau, affirm idenitity & commemorate love.

Whakamanutia Ki Te Ao was written during this years Te Tīmatanga artist residency between Pounamu Rurawhe & Rosanna Raymond, by Whaea Robyn Pryor, Matua Te Rangimarie Akena, Hāmiora Bailey, Te Kīra Whakamoe, Pounamu Rurawhe & Rosanna Raymond.

Whakamanutia Ki Te Ao acknowledges the innate strength and beauty of whakawāhinetanga and affirms the warrior within.
